What:  “Sing Your Way to Instruments!”

When:  Saturday September 12, 2013 (8:30 – 2:00)

Where: Douglas College, New Westminster (700 Royal Ave., Rm. 3285)

Sessions from Darlene Ngo, Helen Van Spronsen, Susan Seneshan and Jo Yawney on better inner hearing, songs and games for pre-schoolers, kindergarten and elementary students, evaluating and adapting recorder methods as well as using Orff instruments to help develop musical literacy and ensemble playing skills. $40 for BCKSC members.

What:  “Ideas from Hungary, Solfege for Choirs and More Xylophones”

Where: University of Victoria (MacLaurin Bldg, Rm A166)

Jake Autio shares his experiences as a participant in the 2013 IKS, Nathan Georgeson shares solfege warm-ups and exercises for choir and Darlene Ngo explores the use of Orff instruments to develop musical literacy and ensemble playing skills. $40 for BCKSC members.

What:  “It’s Never Too Late to Begin”  (Free workshop courtesy of SD61 LSA and BCKSC)

STUDY SCHOLARSHIP: The Kodály Society of Canada is pleased to offer to its members a $500 scholarship to be used toward study in a recognized Kodály summer or academic year certification course. The application deadline is June 15th.

*Please note that applicants are required to be members of a provincial branch of KSC

Acceptance of this funding will incur a responsibility on the applicant’s part to submit a summary of the student’s experience in the summer course to the Alla Breve editor prior to receiving their award.

EDUCATION PROVIDER GRANT: The Kodály Society of Canada has established a policy by which limited funds will be available each academic year to assist providers of music education in funding a Kodály clinician(s) at institutions or workshops/conferences, for a Kodály-based offering. Preference will be given to non-KSC affiliated organizations. To be considered for this opportunity, please complete the application form below. The current grant is $300.  The application deadline is June 15th.
